“baby”
Taken in Prague’s Kampa Island park, this image is of one of the many babies that are scattered throughout the Czech Republic’s capital city. If you look closely, they have a slot as a face. The meaning behind this is somewhat obscure, but it is a signature of Czech artist David Cerny’s work.
I was taken by the sight of these babies crawling through the city (the TV tower is awash with babies crawling all over it!) and intrigued by how they manage to seem at home. This image, of a baby reading, maybe hints at how there may be hope for future generations to hold an interest in culture and the arts, and maybe the future generations haven’t been lost to consumerism just yet.
Your interpretation of what all this means if entirely up to you, the image will make a great talking point hanging on any wall.
